My favorite board book of 2022. It's such a simple idea: little lumps of clay with googly eyes tell us how they feel. These creatures have expressive eyebrows, goofy teeth and stick-figure arms and hands, but it's the posture in their little bodies that really makes me laugh and reminds me of big toddler feelings."

Kids love it when grown-ups say something silly, and this book is full of silly words, like 'snickles,' 'huggles,' 'sniggles' and 'higgles.' They're all just other ways to say that cuddles are 'the best feeling ever.' Joyful photographs of kids with their grown-ups show us all kinds of smiles too."

This colorful chameleon queen will guide you through all her colors with some great chunky cutouts just right for little hands.

Who among us has not known a toddler who put their underwear on their head? This is a funny and ridiculous book about little monsters and their reactions to clothes. Little kids (and me) find this hilarious.

This is the first in a series of beautiful board books with collage art of one single thing and the word for that thing in SEVEN different languages around it. Very cool for the young linguist and their grown-ups.

A really fun call and response board book with robust chunky flaps and dynamic illustrations. Little kids love it when grown-ups say something that is super silly, like "Does a Firefighter fly a Rocket? No! An Astronaut flies a rocket!"

It's unusual to see a lift the flap book which also has a story and simple concepts like shapes at the same time. Just delightful.

A popular bestseller at Mr Mopps'. Perfect for baby showers.

The MacDonalds have a lot of trucks on their farm, it looks like Mrs MacDonald is building something pretty epic. I love reading aloud this Old Macdonald remix. My favorite part is the Dump Truck, "with a Dump Thump here and a Dump Thump there, here a Dump there a Thump, everywhere a Dump Thump."

Jane Foster's colorful patchwork style illustration is really fun and the bright colors hold small children's attention well. There are lots in this series, but this is my favorite because there just aren't that many dino baby books.

It's great to have a diverse families book, which isn't just about diversity. There's plenty to talk about in these bright and dynamic illustrations, above and beyond the short and sweet text. Lovely.

A Mopps' bestseller, maybe because Momo is adorable and seek & find books are fun. But maybe because this is also a color matching book.

A classic read aloud. Don't worry, nothing bad happens to the bear, or to the cheerful family sploshing, swishing and stumbling to find him!

A different kind of "odd one out" book where one of these is not like the others, but it always works out for the best. Some good lessons here, but funny too.

This is one of the most beautiful alphabet books I've ever seen. Each letter is made of derailed and realistic illustrations of objects, animals or people that start with that letter. Plus the illustrations are slightly raised, so it's a tactile experience to trace the letter.
